“Let’s get into trouble, baby.” – Goodbye Don Cornelius

When I heard the news today that Don Cornelius had died, the first thought I had was “Let’s get into trouble, baby.” That was Cornelius’ signature line as Mo Fuzz, cut-rate empresario, in Tapeheads. In that role, he was so charismatic and yet so sleazy at the same time…and that voice. That voice!

 

Much will be written today about Don Cornelius’ important place in the music industry and in African-American pop culture, but he was an under-utilized comic actor and provided one low-budget cult movie with real production value.
